Scholarship Program

Our Scholarship Program is open for students from non-European developing countries who are interested in the exchange of cultures and in the commitment to equal rights, dialogue and intercultural living together.
The Afro-Asian Institute in Salzburg supports students from Africa, Asia and Latinamerica, who are studying in Innsbruck or Salzburg.
Area of study or research: Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Law and Economics, Humanities and Theology, Fine Arts
Target group: Graduates (max. 30 years old), Postgraduates (max. 35 years old)
Detailed type of grant: semester or one-year grant (average duration of the study programme doctoral studies max. 36 months)
a) Diploma-, Master program: 500 EUR
b) selected Master programmes and PhD: 550 EUR

Selection procedure: Carried out by local awards commission
General requirements and conditions:
- nationality of a non-European developing country (except refugees or asylum applicants) - Students from the priority- and partner countries of the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC) and the Austrian Catholic Women´s Movement
- application from Austria (letter of admission and/or enrolment at university needed)
- financial need
- evidence of good progress in studies
- willingness to return to the country of origin or to another developing country
- age limit: 30 years (35 years for doctoral studies)
- Priority is given to female students
- Projects focusing on Poverty Reduction, Gender, Human Rights, Sustainability, International Relations, Intercultural and Interreligious Dialogue

The application form has to be submitted personally with copies of the following documents at the study advisory department of the Afro-Asian Institute. When submitting your documents the originals have to be shown.
1. Passport
2. Student card
3. Curriculum vitae
4. Examinations taken and results
5. Copy of diploma or leaving certificate obtained in your country
6. Notification of study achievement (University Salzburg or Innsbruck)

1. Detailed description of your research project
2. Opinion of academic advisor and possibly that of the Organisation supporting the project
